Der Weg einer Freiheit is one of my favourite BM bands, and their two most recent releases, Stellar and Finisterre, are two of the finest progressive and atmospheric BM albums of the past decade. Unstille is an album that would be a crowning achievement for most bands, but for DWeF, represented a stepping stone to their paramount glory. In any event, this is killer black metal that is thoughtful and aggressive in equal measure, its soaring tremolo melodies fuel to inspire weary souls.

Agonie

Der Weg einer Freiheit is one of my favourite bands and my go-to post black metal band. When I saw them in Trier a few weeks ago, they played Posthum and it was utterly breathtaking to hear it match the quality of their latest works. As much as this band has honed their work and experimented with song structures on Noktvrn, they have already written great pieces of music twelve years ago. Some of my favourite DWeF tracks are found on Agonie. Amazing sound, marvellous execution.
